La mostra Disegno / Idea raccoglie cinque artiste che per la prima volta espongono assieme in Italia: Adelaide Cioni, Elena Gravisch, Diana Legel, Juliane Schmidt e Alexandra Wolframm. Nella loro ricerca il tema del disegno ha valore metodologico, più che pratico: alcune di loro, infatti, non usano affatto matita e carta, tanto che in mostra ci sono fotografie, video, oggetti e installazioni. Disegnare equivale, in questo caso, a concentrarsi sulla percezione, dilatandone la portata per cogliere anche fenomeni poco appariscenti: gli oggetti e le situazioni si trasformano nel momento stesso in cui sono catturati dalla mente-mano dell’artista.
Se Adelaide Cioni (1976) si concentra sulla forma base del rettangolo, quella più artificiale e segno dell’attività umana, Diana Legel (1978) disegna i vuoti nello spazio esterno osservato in maniera non mirata, cogliendo le forme prima che siano riconosciute dall’intelletto: i tragitti sulla carta corrispondono a quelli dell’occhio che sonda il campo visivo secondo traiettorie irregolari, dall’esterno verso l’interno, dal primo piano all’orizzonte, a volte scartando di lato. Elena Gavrisch (1982) fa usare ai protagonisti dei suoi video il disegno per visualizzare i gesti e trattenerne la memoria, mentre Juliane Schmidt (1982) espone accanto alle stelle filanti dipinte a mano, il supporto che mantiene la traccia del procedimento pittorico, caricando il segno grafico di una dimensione temporale. Alexandra Wolframm (1971) parte da semplici sassi, di cui riproduce le apparenze prima a matita, poi con l’argilla mettendo in tensione bidimensionalità e tridimensionalità, immagine e realtà, partendo da un medesimo oggetto.

Il 6 aprile, alle 18.00, si svolgerà un incontro pubblico con le artiste, coordinato da Donatella Landi, per discutere attorno all’attualità del disegno come pratica artistica e sui lavori esposti, insieme alla curatrice e alle autrici.
Disegno I Idea prevede una seconda edizione, nella primavera del 2017, in cui la partecipazione si allargherà ad artisti italiani che condividono tali modalità di approccio alla realtà e alla pratica artistica.
“The exhibition “Il disegno come idea” brings together five artists who, for the first time, have the occasion of exhibiting together in Italy. In their research, the theme of drawing has methodological, more than practical, value: some of them, indeed, don’t even use any pencils or paper. They present their exhibition employing pictures, videos, objects and installations. The act of drawing, in this case, means being able to focus on perception, expanding its scope in order to catch even the least eye-catching phenomena. Objects and situations are transformed the moment that they are caught by the mind-hand of the artist.
Adelaide Cioni (1976) focuses on the basic shape of the rectangle, the most artificial one, the sign of human activity, while Diana Legel (1978) draws the voids the external space, when it is observed but not focused, catching shapes before they are recognised by the mind: the tracks on the piece of paper are equivalent to those of the eye that explores the visual field through irregular routes, from the outside to the inside, from the foreground to the horizon, sometimes swerving on the side. Elena Gavrisch (1982) lets the characters of her videos use drawings in order to picture gestures and to keep them in mind, whereas Juliane Schmidt (1982) exhibits hand-painted streamers associated with the support that keeps track of the painting procedure, loading the graphic sign with a temporal dimension. Alexandra Wolframm (1971) starts with simple stones which she first reproduces by pencil, then with clay, thus creating tension between two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality, between image and reality.
A public talk with the artists, coordinated by Donatella Landi, will take place on April 6th at 6 p.m., to discuss drawing today as an artistic pratice, as well as comment on the artists’ works with both the artists and the curator.
“Il disegno come idea” is a project that also includes a second edition that will take place in Spring 2017, which will see the participation of Italian artists who share this mode of approach to reality and this artistic practice.”
